Just in case you haven’t read part 1…You can read that here.

I have continued to grow in my personal development.  (Anyone else LOVE reading personal growth books?)  I had wandered away from the blog and starting teaching more in person classes on Young Living Essential Oils.  Which has allowed for some revenue, but my heart is still drawn to the entire ‘Rainbow Radish’ community.  I have always known I wanted to incorporate Young Living with the blog because it fits perfectly within a healthy lifestyle.  I have more hours racked up in personal development conferences, seminars, and workshops and courses than anyone I am around on a regular basis.

At times it has been frustrating and even downright depressing to seem to be impacting so few people.  I try not to be distracted by it.  I have always appreciated the people that DO interact with me and I am able to provide some benefit.  I learn as much, if not more from them too.

But here is the thing, even when I knew I wanted to be a teacher for ever and ever (and ever) – I learned and observed for so many years and finally, formally went to college to become teacher.  So, depending on how you look at it, I was in training anywhere from 4-18! years of that being a strong focus and goal.

Then as realized I wanted to enter the entrepreneurial world a few years ago why did I think I could “just do it”.  Just gain followers; just have something beneficial to say and share all the time; just know what I was supposed to be doing and just be successful at it.  Why?

Yes, I read books and took online courses, but if ya’ll know where I am coming from – you a need a real teacher!  A mentor.  You need to learn from someone that has done what you want to do and is willing to teach you.  Interesting where paths lead sometimes when you had no idea that was the route they would take you, but I came across a highly energetic guy in the entrepreneur realm, named Stephen Larsen.  This guy had done what I wanted to do – “share with people what I have to offer that wanted to be shared with”.    And Monday was his favorite day of the week too, so, bonus.

At this point, I was listening to his podcasts and working through his free online trainings.  He said something, that for some reason even though I had heard before, stuck.  He said, “Pick a mentor and stick with that person”.  Lots of people have great ideas, but that don’t always have the same ideas and then you get distracted and end up getting less done.  Okay, that was it – I picked him as my mentor.  He had “proven” what he was offering was beneficial to my business and he had done what I wanted to do.  His free content is pretty impressive, so what could his paid content possible have to offer?  I needed to find out.  So, I registered for Secret MLM Hacks.  Which is an entire curriculum, if you will, on how to share one’s network marketing business with others (Young Living in my case) and the people actually come to you.  You don’t have to feel like you are bothering your friends or go prospecting at the grocery store.  Nice right?!  It is.  I am working my way through the course, slower than I’d like sometimes, (homeschooling and kids’ activities do take an abundance of time.) But progress is still happening, both as a mental mindset shift and physically working on things.

Still wondering how I ended up 1000 milies away from home with this online class…?  Mr. Larsen decided to offer a ticket to his in-person event, OfferMind, to those that had purchased the Secret MLM Hacks.  Wait, what? IN-PERSON?  Live Event?  With the teacher, mentor guy I committed to listening to?

Immediately, I started working on how I could go.  It wasn’t easy.  Even though the price of the event was covered, there wasn’t spare money laying around for the travel expenses.  I had to figure out what to do with my kids.  I had to get around the situation of my ‘lack of fondness’ of flying as well as spending four days alone.  There was a lot energy put forth to get it all situated, but it all worked out fantastically and I am really, really glad it did.

There is something about being at a live event.  An in-person class, where you are fully immersed, distraction free, and able to absorb information and energy so much faster…and that is how ended up in Boise, Idaho.

Next up: Offermind (soon to be posted)
